Introducing Heartfelt Thanksgiving

The newest design in the Heartfelt series celebrates one of my very favorite holidays...Thanksgiving.

I always enjoyed Thanksgiving as a kid and as a teenager. After all, it was the kickoff to "the holidays". It was well into fall, which I've always loved. And it had the best food! Turkey, dressing, rolls, cranberries, pumpkin! I'm hungry just writing that list.

I think most holidays had a different tone back in my day. It was really the first "big" holiday after the Fourth of July. Labor Day was great, and we enjoyed the long weekend, but it was pretty low key.

Believe it or not, Halloween wasn't considered the giant spectacle it is these days. I can remember as a young kid starting to think about a costume maybe a week or two before Halloween. The candy was great, of course, but it was pretty much contained to just that one night. I would get a few pieces of candy in my lunchbox for the next week, but that was about it.

Anyway, Thanksgiving was always (and is still) a grand time in our family. It was a big deal and there were preparations to make, but it was also comfortable, easy-going and fun.
