Friday Favorite - Vintage Games

February is "prep" month around here - everything is about getting ready for the Nashville Needlework Market, which happens the first weekend of March. So it can seem a little quiet on the blog and on our social media. I thought a little glimpse at one of our newest hobbies would be interesting...vintage games!

Over the holidays we usually put together are puzzle or two, play a few games and generally spend a chunk of time doing non-work things. (This is more important than you think when you work where you live and/or live where you work - sometimes it's hard to tell which is which.)

This year, we ended up finding a few vintage games and we have had a blast playing them! Sometime before Thanksgiving, on one of our antique/vintage markets jaunts, we found a set of dominoes.

We had a lot of fun with the double-six set, so much so that when we found a double-nine set we snatched it up!

We bought a classic Trivial Pursuit online, but it turns out they are always updating the questions, so you get questions about today's celebrities and pop culture figures. Neither one of us cares one whit about popular music or shows so we were completely clueless. (The hunt is on for an actual "vintage" game with the old questions :)

We got a vintage Avalon Hill game, Facts in Five, which really stoked our "vintage games" obsession. Jimmy remembers playing several kinds of Avalon Hill games back in his youth. So I'm sure this will be the first of at least a few of these.

Then we happened upon this game in a flea market:

Across the Continent is a game from the 1930s (!) with little metal trains and wooden cups to hold the dice. The board is almost as big as our table.

It makes you realize how fun board games used to be, and how easy it is to have fun without staring at a screen. We'll definitely be adding to this collection!
