We took off on a little adventure last week, and had a thoroughly enjoyable time! We usually prefer travelling in the fall, since sweating through vacation isn't really our idea of fun. We headed off to Kansas City - a place we've been to a few times for Ply Away. But this time there was no work and all play.
Sometimes it works out and we get great fall weather (like a few years ago on a trip to New England, crisp and chilly), and sometimes you just get a slightly cooler version of summer. Like this time. It certainly wasn't sweater weather, but we did at least use the jackets a couple of times.
But we did have a lot of fun! And a few "firsts":
Our first MLB game. Cleveland at Kansas City, and KC won it in extra innings on a walk off run! Baseball is our spectator sport of choice, so it was neat to see the pros do their thing.
Our first Uber. We used it to travel to different areas of the city, and wow, it was so easy. Definite convert.
Our first time to dine at The Cheesecake Factory. Yep. I don't think there's one in the entire state of Arkansas. So when we saw it, being big Big Bang Theory fans, we had to try it. And as a bonus, I think it may have been one of the coolest Cheesecake Factories around. Or maybe they all look this good? It had two levels, and we dined upstairs.
I also got in plenty of knitting time, which was lovely. I took two projects, both of which were new cast ons.
A pair of socks with a skein of Everlasting Sock in Hopskotch. Look at that! I'm on the second sock, which means I knit the first one in just over a week. Go me!
And a shawl that is also in Everlasting Sock, but in the colorway Nectar. I'm making the Vintage Sall shawl. I'm doing the garter portion in Nectar and the lace portion in Teastained. It's supposed to use 2 skeins of each, so it ought to be a very big shawl! Now if it will only get cold:)
And of course, we are always happy to come home to this:
I'm Robin, the designer behind October House. You've found my blog, where I ramble on about stitching and sewing and anything else that catches my fancy!
I love quiet colors, gentle stitches and making things by hand.
