It's probably not hard to figure out that I love October. I've always loved fall, even as a child. The crispness, the clear light, the lovely and colorful leaves...I love it all!
I've never been one who "decorates" for each season. I don't have an Easter egg tree, or a fourth of July wreath or a snowman. (I don't own any snowmen.)
But there are subtle changes I make when fall rolls around. I have these lovely brown transferware bowls. They usually come out and I fill them with something fallish.
I put the summer flowers away and bring out more candles. I lace a garland of fall leaves through the wreath that stays up all year.
And books! Books everywhere is what I say! I make stacks of books. I make more stacks of books. Especially old books. (Which tends to lead to thinking about spots where we could cram another bookcase!)
My husband might say this is also the time of year I get the urge to paint something. Like furniture. (But I think that will have to wait this year. My shoulder isn't ready for that!)
I'm Robin, the designer behind October House. You've found my blog, where I ramble on about stitching and sewing and anything else that catches my fancy!
I love quiet colors, gentle stitches and making things by hand.
