I'm a pencil person. Apparently, that's quite unusual these days. Like owning a rotary phone (guilty as well)!
And I'm also a manual pencil sharpener person. We've owned a manual sharpener for a long time (our house came equipped with one in the utility shed). But a couple of years ago I found this one at a flea market and it quickly became my favorite new "old" thing.
You can see it uses suction to adhere to the tabletop. You flip that lever at the bottom. And let me tell you it holds on!
But the best part is the perfect job it does sharpening your pencil. I know I'm dating myself here - but remember back in school when you found a classroom that had a smooth pencil sharpener and you always sharpened your pencils in that class? Or is that just me?
Anyway...anybody else think pencil shavings smell good?

I have one of those also, attached to a beam downstairs! There’s nothing like it for nostalgia. :)

I'm Robin, the designer behind October House. You've found my blog, where I ramble on about stitching and sewing and anything else that catches my fancy!
I love quiet colors, gentle stitches and making things by hand.

I love pencils, too! Although I have quite a collection, I find that those No. 2s pre-1970 are the best! Love pencil sharpeners, as well. And no, you’re not alone in your memories of knowing where to find the best sharpeners. 😊
Thank you for sharing this!
