These are my favorite cross stitch needles, by Bohin. These have a nice size eye and are a bit longer and stronger feeling.
I tend to use the size 24 on 32 count and lower fabrics.
I find I can use size 24 or 26 on 36 count fabrics.
I use the 26 or 28 on 40 count and higher fabrics.
